The two creators of K'sapa music have been influenced by many artist's. The vocalist, Kim Martinique, has been influenced by Melanie, Phoebe Snow, Joni Mitchell, and Edie Brickell while Robert Folsom has been influenced by John McLaughlin and Django Reinhardt, just to name a few. Their urban folk music done in a slightly pop music style has been enjoyed by Kansas City acoustic music followers since they started playing at "The Point" bar in Kansas City, Missouri in 1995. Their music is filled with great acoustic guitar playing as well as various percussion instruments and fine vocals.
